I took this photo last week of a tree that was literally torn apart during a fierce January gale. The last time I’d walked this track was a few days after the storm when it was heartbreaking to see the colony of Rooks siting quietly in what remained of the tree’s branches, their nests all gone.
Last week I was delighted to see they had rebuilt their colony in another tree further down the track. The tree is younger and very sturdy so they should be safe for many years to come. They certainly sounded very happy.
